This time last year, the Session was disappointed when after accepting an offer for the purchase of our present building, the owner suddenly changed that offer.  The Session and an ad hoc building acquisition team had spent countless hours evaluating how we could make a building with known limitations meet the future needs of our congregation.  In hind sight, we may have been trying to fit a size 12 foot in a size 8 shoe because we honestly felt there were no other choices.
And then….as has so often happened in the life of Faith Presbyterian… a new, and much better site presented itself to us on Bluebird Lane.
Nine acres of beautiful, wooded, rolling land which would accommodate the facility needs of Faith for years into the future

  • Opportunities for parking, on our own property that would easily handle our needs
  • An asking price that was far below the prevailing price for similar property
  • A location that was easily accessible from a major four-lane road that turned out to be, on the average, more accessible to all our current members.

The Session needed to move quickly if it was to take advantage of the “better alternative. But there was the matter of money.  The land would cost $135,000.  Within weeks, members of the congregation showed they shared the enthusiasm of Session and committed over $100,000 in immediate funds to close on the property.
Call it what you will, God was once again guiding his church faithfully forward.
Within the next few months, we will be finalizing a plan to design a building and grounds to be constructed on the new property.  We will also be planning how we will pay for that construction.  Already, members have indicated their willingness to raise a major portion of the funds needed.  We are looking at several means of financing the remainder of the project.
Throughout our life as a church, we have marveled at the commitment and support our members give to every aspect of church life. But what has continued to amaze is the support we receive from those who, while not members, are touched by our church in many meaningful ways.  In many instances, they have supported the work of the church through attendance, service and contributions.  And many have become members.
We invite you to join the excitement and support the future of Faith Presbyterian and our mission in the North Georgia mountains.  If you would like to contribute to the capital fund of the church, to support our building project, you can make a contribution via our secure giving site by clicking on the link below.  Whether or not you are able to provide a gift of money, we sincerely ask for your prayers as we enter this exciting phase of the life in which God is leading us.
